Gerund, Continuous present

It’s easy to say someone is doing something, you can use estar with a verb minus the stem plus either ‘ando’ or ‘iendo’.

Estar Verb minus the stem ar ando
Estar Verb minus the stem ir + er iendo

For example to be speaking…

Hablar – ar = habl + ando = hablando

Yo estoy hablando I am speaking
estás hablando You are speaking
El/Ella está hablando He/She is speaking
Nos estamos hablando We are speaking
Vos estais hablando You (plural) are speaking
Ellos/Ellas están hablando They are speaking

Or eating, with the verb Comer
Comer – er = come + iendo = comiendo

Yo estoy Comiendo I am eating
estás Comiendo You are eating
El/Ella está Comiendo He/She is eating
Nos estamos Comiendo We are eating
Vos estais Comiendo You (plural) are eating
Ellos/Ellas están Comiendo They are eating
